A Brief History Before 1975, New Jersey residents who could not afford private residential treatment for alcoholism had to travel to Graymoor in upstate New York for help. Turning Point’s founders were determined to change this situation. They opened a 10-bed residential program for men on March 17, 1975 in Cedar Grove. CARF, which stands for Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, is the federal agency that ensures the highest possible standards among agencies that offer rehabilitation services. If an agency has CARF accreditation, it means that it pays constant attention to the quality and effectiveness of its programs and uses feedback from its clients to keep that quality high. You can place your confidence in programs and services that carry CARF accreditation. Turning Point is CARF-accredited for its Integrated Behavioral Health programs, as well as its programs for Alcohol and Other Drugs/Addictions (for both Adults and Criminal Justice clients) in the following areas:
