Turning Point Officially Opens New Facility at Barnert Medical Arts Complex

December 13, 2010

PATERSON, NJ - Turning Point, which recently completed extensive renovations to its new alcohol and drug addiction treatment facility at Barnert Medical Arts Complex in Paterson, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new site on December 9.

The program included remarks by Paterson Mayor Jeffery Jones, who welcomed Turning Point and noted that the agency’s arrival is one of many signs that Paterson’s future is on the rise. Raquel Mazon Jeffers, Director of the Division of Addiction Services, NJ Department of Human Services, noted the deep need for Turning Point’s services and expressed confidence in the agency’s ability to continue meeting that need for many years to come. The ribbon was cut by Dr. Manuel Guantez, Turning Point’s Executive Director, and Dr. Brant Cali, a member of the Board of Trustees. As Dr. Guantez noted, “This is a moment filled with hope and opportunity not only for Turning Point but, especially, for all those who walk through our doors.”

Turning Point’s new facility houses residential treatment programs for men and women suffering from alcoholism and drug dependency, including a medically monitored detoxification program, as well as administrative offices. This is the first time in Turning Point’s 35-year history that the agency has had a permanent home of its own.

Turning Point, nationally recognized for its compassionate and effective treatment of alcohol and drug addiction, has served more than 37,000 men and women since 1975. The agency also runs outpatient programs from its Verona location.
