After 35 years of fighting the disease of alcohol and drug addiction, Turning Point finally has a home of its own and plans to celebrate in a big way at its October 7th Benefit Gala. How big? Why not invite immortal boxing champ Joe Frazier to stop by as he celebrates his own 35th anniversary: the Thrilla in Manila, one of the greatest fights of 20th century boxing and the third in the epic trilogy of Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier, which took place on October 1, 1975.
Joe Frazier and Turning Point share a passion for turning lives around. Since 1975, Turning Point has treated more than 37,000 New Jersey men and women seeking sobriety and recovery, most of whom had no way to pay for treatment and nowhere else to turn. Joe Frazier encourages inner city youth and their families to become “Life Champions” through his Smokin’ Joe Frazier Foundation, which targets, among other issues, alcohol and drug abuse.
“Being able to celebrate the completion of our beautiful new facility at this year’s Gala is exciting enough, but having Joe Frazier join us puts the excitement factor through the roof!” said Dr. Manuel Guantez, Turning Point’s Executive Director. “We’re honored and really looking forward to having a one-of-a-kind evening.”
Turning Point’s “Home at Last!” Benefit Gala will be held at the elegant Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ. The evening will also include a cocktail dinner reception, music, dancing and prize raffles. All proceeds will be used to support Turning Point’s addiction treatment programs..
