Top Sober Activities in New Jersey

Turning Point, Inc.

In fact, it gets even more difficult as individuals try to find things to do that will allow them to maintain their recovery while still getting out and having fun. There are still activities for people to stay sober and hang out with some of the biggest supporters in their life. Here are some of the top sober activities to do throughout New Jersey.

Hiking

Part of sobriety is not just refraining from drinking or using drugs, it is also about making sure your body is healthy and your mind is clear. Hiking can be a great activity to achieve this because it involves you and the people closest to you getting outdoors, walking, and spending time in nature. With many scenic areas in New Jersey, finding the perfect spot for you should not be a problem.

Fruit Picking

In New Jersey, there are many farms where individuals can go and pick their own fruits and other produce. These locations often have apples, pumpkins, and more. This gets you outside and focused on something other than the need to drink or use. You can also ask for some of your supporters to be there to help make sure you remain focused.

Ziplining

Did you know there are some ziplining companies throughout the state? Some of these will take you on an exciting ride through the Sussex Skyland’s mountains. For many, there’s nothing like being outside in the fresh air and doing something exhilarating to help keep the focus off an addiction.

Gardens

New Jersey is also home to a number of gardens were people can watch the changing colors of the leaves and enjoy an up-close look at the foliage. These gardens are often a place where people go to find peace, which is perfect for someone focused on recovery and sobriety.

At the end of the day, there are so many activities to do, but the most important thing is to avoid places that can cause triggers of addiction. Don’t go to bars or night clubs where drinks or certain drugs may be used. This can put a person right back in the same element and atmosphere that pushed them towards addiction in the first place.
